How do I get my orchid to bloom again?
When you bring an orchid home, you’re bringing home a plant that will last far beyond the weeks you’ll enjoy those first blooms! One of the questions that we receive most often is, how do you get your orchid to rebloom?
First thing to know is, you can expect your orchid to bloom for about 8 - 12 weeks. Once your orchid’s blooms fall, your plant is very much alive!
With the right care, your orchid will rebloom in a period of 4 - 18 months. It’s a wide range - that will depend on your type of orchid and the kind of care you provide.
Once the blooms fall, cut the stem one inch above the second node. This will give the orchid the chance to reflower from the base - with the best chance for multiple blooms.
At this point, continue to care for your orchid with the same care instructions used when your orchid was blooming. Once you orchid reblooms, the lifecycle of 8-12 weeks will typically repeat.
