How to Care for Your Orchid in the Fall
As Autumn approaches, remember that your orchid's needs change just as the seasons do. So, our staff at Silver Vase has put together a list of tips to care for your precious bud as the season changes.
The first thing to consider is that it might be time to move your orchids. If you've had them outside during the summer, they will need to come inside as the days grow chillier. Move your leafy friend someplace that gets plenty of indirect sun during the shorter days—like a south or east-facing window.
Wherever your orchid calls home during the autumn months, make sure that it's not too cold. Orchids prefer a moderate environment of 65F - 75F, away from cold drafts with a 70% - 80% humidity.
Only repot your orchid during the cooler months if it is necessary.
As for watering, remember to water your orchid based on the humidity levels of your home. If your home is particularly dry, your orchid will require more water and vice versa. We recommend watering your orchid once a week during this time.
If you would like your orchid's growth to continue at a steadier rate during this time of year, you may fertilize it once every four months.
