The Right Way to Grab Your Orchid for Watering
Although orchid care can feel intimidating, it’s truly a matter of learning a few simple steps to get the hang of it.
One step that is easy to overlook is how you grab and slide the orchid out of the decorative pot for watering.
Let’s start at the beginning. Your phalaenopsis orchid comes in a grow pot that is placed within a decorative pot. In order to water it, you’ll need to slide it out of the decorative pot, and water it in the plastic grow pot.
The way that you slide it out is also important. The first time you do this, the grow pot may feel a bit stuck. Try a sliding motion, and place your fingers between the grow pot and the decorative pot to loosen it.
Next, you’ll want to slide out the grow pot for watering.
Do NOT grab from the stem. This could damage the plant.
Instead, grab the plant at the base of the stem as shown below. Make sure that you use your other hand to hold on to the grow pot as you pull the grow pot out of the decorative pot.
Water as indicated in the video below! Make sure all water is drained out before returning to the decorative pot.
